Shannon's bookshelf: read
This is a good little series. I like how each author has had their own voice, while sticking with the overall story. I thought there was a bit more character development in this installment. I enjoy listening to this series to and from w...
I liked this book, it was fast paced and hard to put down. When I started reading, I realized I was already 1/2 way through. Black provided a dark tone to a different "under world." The fae are not involved with this story, but ...

The "Uglies" series by Scott Westerfeld is a good group of books, if you like Post-Apocalyptic/Dystopian genre. The first two books are about a girl named,
Tally, and her obsession of becoming "pretty." At sixteen Uglies are given operations to make them perfect in looks and bubbly-making in behavior. Tally believes once she is pretty, she will not have a care in the world and everything will be wonderful; or will it? While the books are not great literature, they are good "beach reads" and a great escape.

I finished reading "Being Nikki," by Meg Cabot. This is the follow-up to "Airhead." There will be a third book in this series next year. This book seems to follow the Meg Cabot formula, but mixes in some science fiction, as well. The main character Em/Nikki suffers from a brain transplant. Emerson's brain was transplanted into the body of a 16 year old supermodel, Nikki. Among the twists and turns, and tons of ex-boyfriends, the plot leaves the reader yearning for the next book.
